This Thursday, we will be meeting at The Hut as usual. But bring your warm coats and boots, hats, gloves and scarves too if its chilly. Also bring a torch! We will supply hi-vis vests! Parents, siblings and well behaved dogs can come too. On the way back we will call in at the Chip Shop in the Village. We will bring the chips back to the Hut to eat. Beavers can be collected from The Hut at 7.30pm as usual.

New Beavers – please make sure you bring your General Consent Form with you if you haven’t already handed it in. No form, no walk! Its a Scouting rule. Many thanks.

13 Jan 2011 – Beavers get Scientific!

We learned how to make Slime and got really messy. We watched our volcano erupt (vinegar, bicarb and red food colouring). We learned about the acidic qualities of lemons and how to clean pennies! We made raisins bob up and down in lemonade and learned why. We made electronic circuits. Nobel Prizes here we come!

Uniforms were left aside for party outfits tonight. It was ‘Bring a Plate Night’ so the Leaders had a good old nosh! We played party games and had loads of fun. Beavers were very excited for some reason! Perhaps they were hoping that Father Christmas might be visiting them soon!

1st Stubbington Beavers visited Crofton Court to make and serve afternoon tea and cakes to the residents. We also sang Christmas Carols to them beautifully, and recited our poem “The Night Before Christmas”. Our Beavers enjoyed chatting to the Residents and helping them to eat the cakes and biscuits!

1st Stubb Beavers celebrate Thanks-Giving

We had a special guest at Beavers tonight. Ms Mandy Baggaley, a real American lady. She gave a wonderful presentation about the history of Thanks-Giving in the USA. We played themed games, learned about the American States, made Tee-pees and Thanks-Giving turkeys. We made hand-shaped feathers for a giant turkey and wrote all the things we are thankful for on each of the finger sections. Mandy also brought along some yummy Pumpkins Cookies for us all to try. Beavers also had a go at Native American sign-writing!

Pioneering Skills night, Thursdy 18th Nov 2010

We welcomed Jules Goddard to Beavers this evening and learned how to make A-frames and Tripods using Clove Hitches, Sheer and Square Lashings.
